Every relief needs an edge.
Once the depth map looks right, crop it to the physical shape it will actually be cut to — a coin, a coaster, or a custom panel — and finish it with a raised rim or bezel, all previewed live as a rotating 3D model before export.
Coin Rim
Circular crop with an optional raised or recessed rim, sized like a coin or medallion blank.
Coaster
Square or round crop sized for a coaster blank, with configurable bezel width around the edge.
Custom Panel
Free-form panel crop for plaques, ornaments, or any shape that doesn't fit a coin or coaster preset.
Raised or recessed — you choose the polarity
Relief Polarity decides whether light areas of the depth map stay raised and dark areas engrave deeper, or the reverse — the same polarity setting that governs the Height Map export and the Interactive 3D preview. Combined with a bezel width and rim style, you can go from a flat depth map to a finished-looking medallion mockup without leaving the console.
Match the export resolution to the laser that will engrave it
Sized coin and coaster presets have their own Coin/Coaster Export Resolution control, separate from the source image's own resolution — because a physical-size preset needs a real, deliberate pixel density, not whatever the source photo happened to be shot at. A laser's spot size caps how much detail it can actually resolve (DPI ≈ 25.4 ÷ spot size in mm): CO₂ and diode lasers typically resolve somewhere in the 150–300 DPI range, while a fiber laser marking a metal blank can resolve far finer detail, so 500–600+ DPI is the better match if that's how the piece will actually be made.
Changing the resolution re-locks the current physical size at the new pixel count, and it only affects sized presets — Original Flat Panel and the unsized rim-only presets (Standard/Thin/Wide) keep the source image's own resolution exactly as before.
